Royal Garden Blues - Bix Beiderbecke
Royal Garden blues – Bix Beiderbecke 1927 On October 5 1927 Bix Beiderbecke recorded one of the most important jazz recordings in its history. Royal Garden Blues with his New Orleans Lucky Seven, sometimes known as his Gang. Bix had some superb musicians in his band: Bill Rank on trombone, Don Murray on clarinet, Adrian Rollini on bass sax, Frank Signorelli on piano and Chauncey Moorehouse on drums. Through the decades this recording has been a sample of how jazz can be played and has influenced many of the great white jazz musicians like Bobby Hackett, Jimmy McPartland soon after and today more the likes of Tom Pletcher, Bent Persson and certainly Hans Carling and his New Cooling Orchestra. The most amazing rendition of this tune is being played in 1984 by Hans Carling together with his band and his young musical family. http://www.dailymotion.com/boberwig/video/x58s3s_royal-garden-blues-carlings-1984_music Found by : Peter Clancy

Wolverine Blues - Eddie Condon
Wolverine Blues Condon Eddie 1959 The grand finale with a one minute clip of Wolverine Blues by Eddie Condon's All Stars. Actually 65 seconds, but every second is worth that double impact of seeing and hearing at the same time, simply called movie. Youtube made it possible that this clip came out of my video cabinet. My film jazz collection doesn't do much good sitting neatly catalogized on one of my shelves. Thank you Youtube to have made it possible to share this with all of you Jimmy McPartland trumpet, Pee Wee Russell clarinet, Bud Freeman tenor sax, Jack Teagarden trombone, Joe Sullivan piano, Eddie Condon guitar, Bob Haggart bass and Gene Krupa drums. Original Wolverines - A Good Man Is Hard to Find
The Original Wolverines performing A Good Man Is Hard To Find for Brunswick in 1927. The group includes Jimmy McPartland and, according to the label, Frank Teschemaker, but Rust says no. In the mid 1930's, Milt Gabler of Commodore Records fame, convinced the major record companies to loan him the original masters of many famous jazz recordings from the early 1920's to as recent as 1932. They were issued on his own beautiful label (United Hot Clubs of America) and the labels included (if known) full discographical information. At first it was a subscription only series. Acoustic records were dubbed; electric records were just repressed, but on superior material. As a result, these reissues often sound better than the originals. The earliest of these that I have is dated 1934; the latest 1942. This one was issued in 1934 for an earlier version of reissues. Based on the number, this one was probably one of the last issued. Somewhere between 50 and 60 discs were issued. Found by : Peter Clancy

Marian McPartland - In A Mist
In a Mist McPartland Marian 1974[thanks to boberwig on dailymotion] Pianist Marian McPartland plays a tune composed by Bix Beiderbecke. He recorded "In the Mist" in 1927.Margaret Marian Turner was born in England on March 21, 1918 near Slough, Buckinghamshire. As a child, young Marian Turner approached the piano around the age of three. While gaining proficiency on her own, she often provided musical entertainment at family gatherings. Her parents, however, enrolled Marian in violin lessons. Marian's enrollment in a boarding school ended her doomed attempt at playing the violin, and she eventually ended up at the famous London Guildhall School of Music where she studied piano and composition.Marian was introduced to jazz by a boyfriend who often brought jazz records to her house. For hours they would listen to the music of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and others. From that point on, Marian was hooked on jazz. In 1943, Marian began playing in USO camp shows in Belgium and France, where she met a Chicago cornetist named Jimmy McPartland, a Bix Beiderbeck protege. In 1952, Marian's trio began what was to become a long-running gig at New York's Hickory House, where many legendary musicians to whom Marian had once listened often sat in the audience listening to Marian. In 1978, Marian began hosting her own radio program for National Public Radio and South Carolina Educational Radio: Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz. Marian's most recently released CD on the Concord Jazz label is Just Friends, featuring jazz greats-- Tommy Flanagan, Renee Rosnes, George Shearing, Geri Allen, Dave Brubeck, and Gene Harris--playing duets with Marian. Additionally, a CD titled Portraits was released on the NPR label in the summer of 1999. This CD, as suggested by the title, is a compendium of Marian's musical portraits of several guests on Piano Jazz. Found by : Peter Clancy
